App control is useful when several rooms are involved or you want to change settings without going to each unit. JESSP control options depend on the model: DZ and Vario support app operation; Easy+ uses its dedicated wall controller for central control and Wi-Fi/Smart Life functions. Remote controls, sensors, controllers and apps are not interchangeable concepts.
Which model uses which controls?
- Eco Smart DZ: Wi-Fi/app, remote control, compatible Wi-Fi panels and Alexa voice control according to the product configuration; choice of CO₂ or humidity sensor.
- Eco Smart Easy+: dedicated wall controller with Wi-Fi/Smart Life functions; the documents refer to Smart Life and Tuya. An expansion unit cannot operate without the Easy+ controller.
- Vario 160: Smart Life or remote control, with the higher Vario airflow.
- Vario 110: Smart Life or remote control, with a smaller wall opening.
Compare airflow, noise, wall construction and filters as well as app convenience in the JESSP comparison. For sleeping areas, use the bedroom guide.
Smart Life or Tuya?
DZ and Vario product pages name Smart Life. Easy+ documents refer to Smart Life or Tuya via the Wi-Fi wall controller. Follow the manual supplied with the exact unit and controller. Keep related devices in the same specified app and assign clear rooms; switching apps during setup can create confusing names and assignments.
Setup in six steps
- Identify the system: check the label, order and supplied parts. An Easy+ replacement controller is for Easy+ only, not DZ or Vario.
- Test basic operation without the app: follow the manual and verify operating modes and the technical assignment of paired units. An app does not replace correct push-pull pairing.
- Install the specified app: use the official smartphone app store, a strong personal password and available security features. Share control only with intended users. For rentals, document handover instead of sharing a private account.
- Pair one system first: put the unit or Easy+ controller into pairing mode exactly as instructed. Button sequences vary by model and version; verify the connection before adding other rooms.
- Name units clearly: use names such as “Bedroom window side” or “Living room left”. Make pair membership apparent.
- Test each mode: check speeds and coordinated operation. Set up schedules only once physical operation and app indications agree.
App, sensor or schedule?
An app applies manual settings; a schedule follows time; a supported sensor reacts to a measured value. DZ offers CO₂ or humidity variants. Prevent schedules and sensor automation from conflicting: decide the priority and change one setting at a time. Control cannot compensate for undersizing; first determine how many units you need.
Troubleshooting
- Unit not found: check power, status indication and the correct pairing mode. Restart the app and repeat the documented process if needed.
- Wrong unit responds: name and test each unit separately. Check technical pair/group assignment: an app group is not automatically a synchronised push-pull pair.
- Connection lost after router changes: saved network details may no longer match. Reconnect according to the manual; avoid speculative factory resets that may erase settings.
- App and remote disagree: allow the display to refresh, use one control source at a time, choose a recognisable mode and check actual operation. Repeated discrepancies require checking model assignment and connection.
Which concept suits you?
DZ combines direct control with sensor choice. Easy+ provides a fixed central wall control point plus app functions. Vario 160 offers higher airflow; Vario 110 prioritises a smaller opening. Always include noise, filters, installation and accessories in the decision.
Frequently asked questions
Without a smartphone? Model-dependent remotes or wall controllers provide other control options; consult the manual. Easy+ without its controller? No. Expansion units require it; starter/complete kits include the matching controller and replacements are available separately. Both apps for every model? No: follow the exact product and controller documentation. Does the app replace maintenance? No; see filter maintenance.
